BCAT Summer Outreach projects
Every year BCAT supports the Summer Reading Challenge (SRC) led by The Reading Agency and libraries.
BCAT provide art, dance, drama, music and games workshops across Birmingham libraries to assist with getting children interested in reading, using recommended books and the SRC theme as a catalyst.
All workshops are completely free and funded by grants, donations and community fundraising.

BCAT Summer Outreach 2017
This year's project was held in association with Birmingham Libraries. We reached over 150 children as part of the WILD Project that ran alongside the Summer Reading Challenge - Animal Agents. The idea of these sessions was to use animal art and drama to encourage children to pick up books and read. Judging by feedback the young people really enjoyed them and this is what parents want to see more of in their local libraries.
BCAT Summer Outreach 2016
BCAT's summer outreach community work was very busy indeed!
We took our BFG arts workshop all over the Midlands to make lots of children and adults very happy indeed! From ages 3 to 55, we collected dream's in our Dream Bottles; we made some BFG nonsense words on Giant feet; we spied on and drew some Giants caught in the action; we practiced being a giant ourselves and finally sketched our own Journey to Giant land! |
A collection of work from all those that took part in the roadshows.
